Lentala is revolutionising school furniture with playful seating designs that encourage active sitting. Our idea is not to eliminate sitting, but to make sitting healthier with more low-intensity movements throughout the day. We achieve this by designing furniture that comfortably allows more variation and freedom of movement than traditional chairs.

Today’s children move too little and sit too much. They sit on chairs for up to eight hours a day, and this is not varied enough, especially in school classrooms. Sitting passively for too long can be harmful to the body and lead to poor physical health and mental well-being. This applies to children at school as well as adults and young people.

Variety of seating positions

Lentala designs are simple, playful seats that inspire children to find their own personal sitting rhythm. Designed with a generous sitting surface, like a surfboard, it allows children to take a wider range of sitting postures. Each change in posture activates different muscle groups, helping to support a child's physical health. As a result, the seats promote concentration, stamina and playfulness.

Designed for children from 119-142 cm (5 to 10 years old). Ideally used with desks from 53-59 cm high.
Designed for children from 133-176 cm (8 to 13 years old). Ideally used with desks from 64-71 cm high.

Materials

Lentala designs are considered both health and planet friendly as the ROM is made from natural and renewable materials, FSC certified European beech wood with a water-based finish and a 100% natural merino wool felt seat cover.

Designed as one piece with no mechanical parts, the ROM is lightweight, easy to clean and stackable by four.
